As Dr. Nangolo Mbumba’s term comes to a close. Young people in Windhoek reflect on his leadership, highlighting both his achievements and challenges. Many praised his courage in leading the nation through two periods of national mourning.

"Since taking over from the late Dr. Geingob, obviously Geingob laid a foundation down, a manifesto that had to be fulfilled, so President Mbumba did very well, you know; he stepped up, and he had big shoes to fill, and I am actually very happy that he fulfilled it by just doing that," said one resident.

Another added, "President Mbumba has done a good job, actually, and his run as a president was not easy. He had to announce the deaths of two high-ranking officials, so it wasn't easy for him, and it would not be easy for anyone, but he took it up as our president, and I am very proud of him because he made sure everything ran smoothly, and he picked up where the late Dr. Geingob left off. He also participated in a lot of international meetings, and he actually put our name on the map."

A third person noted, "I think taking over from what it took over, he did an excellent job. Of course, people can criticise it, but I feel like Dr. Mbumba was very prestigious in his role, seeing that he also ran through two heads of state passing on. He did a brilliant job; Namibia deserved a leader like him. I am really grateful that we got him in this short time; he could have been extended, hopefully, but he loved the leadership that he knew when to step down."

Another resident shared, "I believe his leadership for the past few months was quite impressive for a man who lost his friend, not only his friend but also his leader and his mentor. I believe he did an outstanding job because he led us in the right way."

Finally, one person said, "It was quite prestigious for the short time he had; we really do appreciate how he was able to take over, and it was smooth sailing. We have not encountered any difficulties with him coming in, so I really do appreciate him."
