Oshikoto Regional Council is reviewing its extended seven-year strategic annual plan as well as the 2025 financial year work plan for improved service delivery to the residents.
Speaking at the opening of a two-week workshop in Otjiwarongo, the Chief Regional Officer Christella Mwenyo said the meeting is a requirement to meet government directives and reforms.
Mwenyo says with the implementation of the strategic plans, citizens can hold the council accountable on service delivery and good governance.
"We know in the past our strategic plans were five years, but the new strategic plan that we are going to develop now will be for six years. In this process of developing our new strategic plans and our new annual plans, we are expected to review our own plans. We are expected to take corrective actions where we have gone wrong in our previous plans and use that to develop our new plans. We have to, as public servants, respond to the needs of our citizens."
Participants are also expected to fully implement the performance agreements.
The Chairperson of the Oshikoto Regional Council, Samuel Shivute, said, "As such, we look forward to your feedback on how we have performed as the Regional Government in the past five to seven years. We also look forward to seeing our plans for the new financial year. As I conclude, let me take this opportunity to commend the improvement in the way we operate as an institution, because our work can now be felt on the ground, especially in the area of staff wellness, capacity building, development, recognition and growth."
The workshop is attended by council administrators and political office bearers.
