
Three groups received awards through the 'Just Transition to the Future Water-Energy Innovation Challenge.
Awards' initiative, which aims to promote sustainable and equitable solutions addressing the interconnected issues of water and energy. These awards focus on ensuring access to clean water and tackling climate challenges through innovation.
The winners include the Green Team Consultants, who secured first place with a prize of N$50,000. In second place, the Centre for Water Innovation Namibia received N$30,000, while
South Africa's AB Farm Vertical Hydroponic took third place and earned N$10,000.
All awardees are committed to addressing water scarcity in communities, preserving water resources, providing solutions for saline borehole water, and extracting water from hand-dug wells.
The challenge also seeks innovative solutions to critical technological challenges faced by utilities, businesses, and communities in the pursuit of a carbon-neutral future.
Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts, and Culture, Dino Ballotti, commended the winners for their creative approaches to tackling drought, water, and energy challenges.

The competition attracted participants from across Africa and was sponsored by the Capricorn Foundation, UNIDO, NGIN, and CcHUB Namibia.
