A 25-year-old nurse was left traumatised after being kidnapped and robbed by a taxi driver and his two accomplices in Ongwediva on Thursday night.
The male nurse, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he boarded a taxi near Chicco Mall after completing his shift at Oshakati State Hospital to travel home to Omatando village.

The taxi, a grey vehicle with a driver and two male passengers—one seated in the front and the other in the back—picked him up.
At Omatando Circle, one of the passengers requested to be dropped off at a nearby school, which was in the opposite direction of the victim's destination.
As the taxi approached the school and stopped, the passenger in the front seat got out and moved to the back, trapping the victim between them. They then threatened him with knives and a gun, demanding that he reveal his bank balance and transfer money electronically to his mobile wallet.
The suspects called another accomplice stationed at an ATM to withdraw N$3,000 from the victim’s account. They also withdrew an additional N$2,700 from another mobile wallet.
While holding him face down, they used his phone to message unsuspecting contacts, requesting money under false pretences. They successfully obtained N$2,100 through deception.

After a nearly two-hour ordeal, the suspects threw the victim out of the taxi on Omungwelume Road, having also robbed him of his iPhone valued at N$7,500 and a watch worth N$959.

The victim has since reported the case at Ongwediva Police Station.
