A suspect was apprehended at Ariamsvlei this morning during an intelligence-led operation, found in possession of two bags containing 26 parcels of cannabis.

The cannabis weighed approximately 27,000 grams (27 kg), police report, with a value exceeding N$ 1.3 million.

A 31-year-old South African national was arrested in connection with the trafficking case.

Another male suspect managed to flee back into South Africa, leaving his documents and cell phone with the immigration officer who interviewed him at the port of entry.

It is believed that the two are part of a syndicate, with more individuals suspected to be involved in the crime.
