The Councillor of the Omuntele Constituency, Sacky Nangula, is urging community members affected by the floods to remain calm while the government organises help for flood victims.
"Over 200 households have been impacted by the flood. Many people cannot even leave their homes and need to be rescued. This is going to be a tough year, as many villagers' mahangu fields have been destroyed," Nangula stated.
Fiina Fillemon, a flood victim from Iipopo village, shared her experience: "This year is very difficult for our community in Omuntele. Water has surrounded our homes and our mahangu fields. We won’t be able to harvest this year; the mahangu is completely underwater and has rotted," she said.
Many homeowners are calling on the government to respond to their urgent needs.
"As soon as mosquito nets are available, we will distribute them to those in need," Nangula assured flood victims as he visited them house by house.
The community is hopeful that support will arrive soon, and they are grateful for any assistance that can help them through this difficult time.
