The Miss Namibia Organisation, powered by NBC, has officially announced the semi-finalists for the Miss Teen and Miss Namibia beauty pageants.
Out of over 100 entries, 20 Miss Teen semi-finalists will participate in the preliminary pageant, and 24 will compete in Miss Namibia.
The beauty pageant, under the theme "Celebrating Legacy, Embodying Unity – Consolidating Namibian Beauty," will take place in the Oshana Region.
The NBC's Director General, Stanley Similo, stated that the pageant should be held in different parts of the country every year to give all Namibian girls an opportunity as well as to embrace unity in diversity.
"What we are doing is to really grow and empower young women so that they can take up positions of responsibility. It is not just about the beauty part of what we do, but it's about setting a course that will seek to say, 'Out of the group of young ladies that go through Miss Teen and Miss Namibia, we're hoping to rear very responsible Namibians. Women, for that matter.'"
The reveal, which marked the first major milestone on the road to the crowning ceremony, showcased the beautiful young women set to compete for the coveted crown in the much-anticipated national beauty pageant.
The Chief Executive Officer of Miss Namibia, Umbi Karuaihe-Upi, stated that the platform should be used to its maximum capacity for the greater good of every Namibian woman and girl child.
"This is not only about women making; this is more than that. This has become a social movement for change that will impact each and every one of you today and also the country because we are growing you to take over from us, to become the leaders of tomorrow."
The preliminary will take place on the 16th and 17th of May, where the top ten contestants will be selected.
