The Namibian National Students Organisation (NANSO) hosted a Green Carpet event with the aim of building stronger connections between young Namibians and different industries.

The event brought together students, professionals, and industry leaders to create opportunities for learning, networking, and future collaboration.

The event held under the theme "Directing the National Budget: Opportunities for the Youth" was attended by industry professionals, experts and the youth, who engaged in dialogue to explore opportunities within various sectors.

It also provided a platform for industries to showcase opportunities for the youth, aligning with priorities highlighted in the national budget.

President of NANSO, Dorthea Nangolo, says this is an opportunity for the youth to engage with industry leaders and discuss what should be prioritised in terms of youth empowerment.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Art and Culture, Dino Ballotti, gave some insight about the budget allocation towards the ministry.

He says although they have received the biggest chunk, it still is not enough due to various factors, such as the large number of schools and the increasing numbers of students on an annual basis.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, who was also part of the panel discussion, commended Nanso for hosting the event and giving the youth an opportunity to engage with industry leaders and understand the crucial role the ministries play in contributing to the country's development.
