Swapo MP Clemencia Coetzee has called on the government to fast-track the delivery of affordable and inclusive housing across Namibia.

Coetzee, who hails from the ||Kharas Region, began her political journey with the Swapo Party at just 17 years old. She expressed a firm commitment to uphold the party's values of inclusivity and development throughout her tenure.

In her maiden speech, she also expressed hope that under the current administration, the pressing issue of inadequate housing would be decisively addressed.

To this end, she urged for the introduction of innovative and accessible housing models, such as rent-to-own schemes, cooperative housing partnerships and land subsidies.

Highlighting the critical role of local authorities, she advocated for their empowerment through increased resources, greater flexibility and the autonomy to tailor housing solutions to their communities' needs.

In her appeal to fellow lawmakers, Coetzee urged MPs during their tenure not just to debate but to be a source of light.
