NamWater has announced an extension of water rationing in Walvis Bay as unresolved electricity supply issues at the Rooi Bank and Dorop South aquifer systems continue to affect water extraction.

Persistent voltage drops and deteriorating infrastructure have hampered operations, prompting the utility to advise the Municipality of Walvis Bay to maintain rationing measures for an additional 31 days.

The revised water rationing schedule will be in effect from 30 April to 30 June 2025, with nightly water supply interruptions occurring between 00:00 and 04:00.

Despite the ongoing challenges, NamWater confirmed that the interruption window remains limited to four hours, thanks to ongoing technical improvements. The utility is in the final stages of replacing damaged power lines and expects full restoration of services by the end of June.

NamWater expressed regret over the inconvenience and assured residents of its continued efforts to resolve the matter. For urgent issues, residents are encouraged to contact the Municipality of Walvis Bay or NamWater directly.
