The Namibian Cabinet has authorised the sale of the ageing government jet, Falcon V5-NAM, which is currently valued at N$95.9 million.

This was announced as part of the latest Cabinet decisions, following a decision-making meeting.

The Cabinet also directed the Ministry of Works and Transport to use some of the income from the sale of the Falcon for the maintenance of Government Air Transport Services.

The rest of the funds are to be deposited into the state coffers.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet directed the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare to embark on and develop a nutrition response strategy to prevent, treat, and control severe acute malnutrition.

The exercise is to be carried out with relevant stakeholders.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services is further directed to undertake concerted efforts to improve immunisation services and other malnutrition and vaccine-preventable disease services in the Kunene Region.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of an implementation task team, comprising key ministries, to implement proposed interventions aimed at counteracting the prevalence of malnutrition.

The proposed measures include intensifying multi-sectoral interventions focusing on maternal nutrition and household food security.
