President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says she feels empowered and encouraged by the support given to her by former Presidents Hifikepunye Pohamba and Nangolo Mbumba, describing them as strong pillars to lean on and shoulders to cry on during her tenure as Head of State.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah made these remarks during a visit to former President Pohamba at his homestead in Okanghudi in the Ohangwena Region.
During her visit, Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah was taken to a tree locally known as Omwandi, located within the former President's homestead.
The tree holds deep historical significance, having served as a meeting point for Pohamba and other freedom fighters during the liberation struggle, where they discussed key matters related to Namibia's independence.
Pohamba warmly welcomed President Nandi-Ndaitwah, who was accompanied by former President Nangolo Mbumba, describing their visit as unforgettable and a historic moment.
"We shall document this and keep it in our forthcoming document storage now under preparation, Comrade President. Behind you here on the other side, our family decided to put up a storage of all information, and what you have seen under the tree is going to be documented in the storage I am referring to."
President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised that with the full backing of her predecessors and the Namibian people, she is confident in her ability to lead the country toward prosperity and greater heights.
"I was saying when I assumed office, I had a discussion with my elder brother, Nangolo Mbumba, and he says as a party, we have to continue our tradition that was introduced by our 3rd President of a Presidential consultation council, and we agree that before the council starts its work, he must take me to Okanghudi for an introduction. This is an introduction where I am being introduced to the work of the presidential commission. That is real; I appreciate it."
