The Governor of the Ohangwena Region, Sebastian Ndeitunga, expects participants that are drafting the annual strategic plan of the Office of the President to address the bottlenecks that hinder smooth and quick provision of public services.

Representing all the governors, Ndeitunga was speaking at a five-day workshop underway at Swakopmund.

The workshop is expected to draft the strategic plan of the Office of the President for the period covering 2025/26 to 2030/31.

The governors, appointed by the President, serve under that office.

"Politicians were elected to go and provide services; in many cases we find push and pull, infightings and even people outside if they see what is happening in our offices; it is really embarrassing. We should try to strengthen unity of purpose in all that we are doing, and we leave personal issues wherever they belong, not in public offices."

Ndeitunga further stressed that the governors sometimes encounter inefficient services from the headquarters, and it is his expectation that the roadblock will be addressed.

"We also look forward to being advised and positively criticised about what we were supposed to do and what we are doing and what we were not supposed to be doing in the way we are doing because we have one objective: to serve one person."

The acting Executive Director in the Office of the President, Mateus Kaholongo, urged the staff members to break free from traditional approaches and outdated processes.

"We must embrace a shift in mind-set, breaking free from traditional approaches, complacency and outdated processes and systems that are no longer effective. This moment calls for bold thinking, transitional leadership and the courage to do things differently. I therefore urge you to think outside the box and advise methods of delivering services prudently, ensuring that we do more with less."

The Senior Special Advisor to the President, Christine ||Hoëbes will officially open the meeting.
