
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says safety and security remain a foundation of Namibia's development.
The head of state made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of one thousand 779 police officers at Oshakati this afternoon.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah said the event serves as a testament to the government's commitment to strengthening the country's security forces to ensure peace, stability and order.
The President also said the demonstration of effective service delivery in the force is applaudable and urged the new recruits to serve the nation, explaining that this should not just be a form of job creation but a voluntary service.
"Becoming a police officer is no mean feat. It is a challenging job that requires outstanding mental and intellectual fortitude as well as physical agility. Therefore, as you navigate the profession, commit yourself to the police code of conduct and ethics."
She reminded the graduates that they are guardians of peace and security as well as key players in the socio-economic development of the country.
The Police Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo, has called on the graduates to serve the nation with dedication and integrity and selflessly protect both Namibians and foreign nationals.
Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security Minister also urged the graduates to serve with utmost commitment and dedication throughout their careers in the force.
