
A 76-year-old man identified as Matheus Shongola Shou reportedly drowned at Olukulo village in the Tsandi Constituency, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has reported.
According to NamPol’s Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, the incident occurred around 07h30 on Wednesday.
“It is alleged that the deceased was found floating in a swamp near a school by learners,” he said.
The deceased lived alone and was last seen alive on Tuesday at the cuca shops in the vicinity.
In a separate incident, a 45-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an unknown suspect at Okathimakamwe village in the Oshikuku Constituency.
Basson said the incident occurred around 21h00 on Wednesday.
“It is alleged that the man grabbed the woman from behind by her shirt, pulled and twisted her right arm, and she fell down on her back. The suspect then allegedly raped her,” he added.
Police investigations in both matters continue.
