The family of 16-year-old Antonio Angelo Xamseb, a grade 10 learner at the Karibib Junior Secondary School who was stabbed to death last weekend, are demanding answers.

When the nbc News crew arrived at the Xamseb residence, members of the family were clothed in black, symbolising grief and pain.

Jetrothe Maureen Xamises, the 58-year-old grandmother, broke down in tears as she described her late grandson as a ray of sunshine who lit up every room with his presence.

The family expressed pain over the death of their son, saying the loss of a child is an incredibly painful and traumatic experience.

Antonio was a learner at Karibib Junior Secondary School who, according to his grandmother, had dreams of becoming a lawyer.

Xamseb was on his way home when he was attacked by an unknown assailant.

According to the police report, he was found in a pool of blood in the early hours of Saturday morning, with three stab wounds on his back, along a footpath between the Usab residential area and Karibib town, not far from his father's house.

His phone and shoes are still missing.

The family remembers Xamseb as a joyful and loving person.

"It is not easy, but we leave everything in God's hands. Only He can wipe away our tears; only He knows that hour and what happened. He was the only one who saw everything, and only He will answer our prayers to expose everything. We look up to the Lord and Saviour; surely He will answer our prayers within this week before we lay Him to rest. The whole family have been in pain since last week. We already laid to rest another young man, and now this week we are doing the same. It's painful," said Antu !Nanuses, one of the mourning family members.

Iwalda !Nanuses only has fond memories of her late cousin. "We remember him as a very happy, joyful person. He did not engage in arguments with others, preferring to maintain a reserved demeanour. He is not the kind of person with whom you would engage in a fight or argument. All I can say is it's very painful for a young person that was starting his life to lose his life like this; we have lost the only son of my uncle."

Another family member, Julanda !Nanuses called on the public to come forward should they have any information on who caused the death of their loved ones. "If anyone has information about Antonio's death, please come forward so we can identify all the culprits. The pain we feel today could affect your whofamilies tomorrow, and you may find yourselves making the same plea for help in locating someone who has harmed your loved ones."
