The late youth leader Mandela Kapere's contributions to youth empowerment continue to be etched and celebrated across SADC and the African continent by his peers.
Kapere died in 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Youth delegations from Namibia, South Africa, the DRC, and Zimbabwe reflected on the late Kapere's life with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at State House.
Some could not attend the late Kapere's funeral in 2020, owing to the restrictions that were placed because of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The youth leaders are now in Windhoek to honour and attend the tombstone unveiling of the late former chairperson of the National Youth Council, whom they described as trusted and hard-working.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah too recalled the late Kapere's final moments at her residence.
Meanwhile, the President also emphasised the significance of the inclusion of Africa's growing youth population in the governance of the continent.
The youth delegations commended Nandi-Ndaitwah's rise in politics, having served also in youth and other wings of the Swapo Party, ultimately ascending to the presidency.
