Okahandja residents are expressing their concerns over the suspects linked to a dagga plantation being held in the local police holding cells.

They fear that the suspects may interfere with investigations due to their proximity to the crime scene.

In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of the Police, residents, represented by the "Stop the Violence Community Action Group," have requested the transfer of the suspects to the Windhoek Correctional Facility.

The accused individuals—David Van Der Linden, Armand Schults, and Johannes Kamati—were arrested in connection with an illegal dagga plantation spanning 1.55 hectares, valued at over 50 million dollars, located at a farm near Okahandja.

The letter emphasizes that, given the seriousness of the allegations, the suspects should not be held near the crime scene, as their presence could compromise the

integrity of the investigation.

Additionally, the letter claims that a mattress was brought for the suspects but was rejected by the officers on duty, raising concerns about potential unauthorized communication between the accused and outside

individuals, which could further jeopardize the investigation.

The Office of the Inspector General has confirmed receipt of the letter and has forwarded it to the Crime Investigation and Police Investigation Directorates for further action.

The group has also contacted the Okahandja Traffic Division to request their presence at a demonstration scheduled for June 23rd, during which they plan to submit a petition to the Prosecutor General at the Magistrate's Court in Okahandja.
