The Namibian Correctional Service has launched the one-way Telio telephone system at the Walvis Bay and Swakopmund correctional facilities to enable inmates to communicate with the outside world.

A volunteer inmate demonstrated the functionality of the one-way Telio system.

All calls will be recorded and monitored by trained staff at the correctional facility.

The system is set to be implemented in all correctional facilities nationwide.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, officiated the launch and unveiled the plaque.
