Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekund has called on residents of Okaku Constituency in the Oshana Region to support development by availing their crop fields for road construction.

Speaking during a belated celebration of Namibia's 35th Independence, Nekundi encouraged the community not to resist progress but to embrace it.

“Let’s work together to identify the roads that need to be constructed,” he said. “As members of the Okaku community, let’s make way for road construction and not prolong availing land by offering your fields to pave a way for such development. If a road is passing through your field or near your house, let’s work together.”

Nekundi urged residents to help identify roads leading to key institutions such as schools, clinics, churches, and government offices to ensure easier access.

He reminded the community that development is a gradual process and called for patience.

“We will work hard to see to it that if a clinic or health care centre is needed in Okaku—and I feel there are places where one is needed—all these are in plans for the Namibian Government,” he said.

The minister also encouraged unity and cooperation to help the country move forward.

“Let us work together; let us work hard so that we can achieve all the things that need to be achieved and fully enjoy and eat the fruits of Namibia’s independence,” Nekundi said. “If we work together, we can face all the challenges in front of us and overcome them as a nation.”
