Eighty students graduated from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Windhoek on Friday.

Graduates received certificates, diplomas, and bachelor’s degrees in various fields including business management, digital marketing, mechanical and electrical engineering, logistics and transport, procurement and supply, accounting, and finance.

Vice-Chancellor Fredrick Simpungwe urged the graduates to keep learning and to remain adaptable in a fast-changing digital world.

"This world is evolving. The following are dimensions of factors that are at play. As we know, we are in the fourth, and some countries are going into the fourth industrial revolution, where technologies are taking over everything that is happening in the labor market, and this has now come to Africa. Some of the things you hear about are that artificial intelligence is reality and is working, and in other words, it could be your competitor in the labor market," said Simpungwe.

Guest speaker Dr. Conrad Lutombi encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and stay grounded in their values.

"Lifelong learning is no longer a luxury but a necessity for survival. Do not neglect your physical and spiritual well-being, and please avoid toxic behavior and peer pressure in your social interactions," said Lutombi.

He added, "Cultivate curiosity and creativity. Develop a habit of asking why and what if. Challenge assumptions. Look for connections where others see none. Your ability to think creatively when faced with any challenge is one of the greatest assets."
