The Ministry of Health and Social Services has recorded another cholera case at the Orokapare location in Opuwo town.

The latest case involves a 13-year-old boy with no history of contact with confirmed cases who presented with acute watery diarrhoea and severe abdominal pain.

He is currently in stable condition.

The ministry further reported that a patient admitted on 20 June was discharged yesterday and is in good condition.

Confirmed cholera cases thus far total seven, with only one currently admitted to hospital.

With financial support from WHO, the ministry deployed a team of three SURGE staff yesterday to support outbreak response activities: two staff responsible for Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and one responsible for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).

They were joined by an epidemiologist and a senior advisor for public health systems and security from the US CDC Country Office, who will primarily support, but are not limited to, surveillance and laboratory activities enhancement.
