Keetmanshoop residents referred for specialist treatment to Windhoek Hospital have expressed frustration over prolonged transport delays.

In a social media post that went viral on Monday, the residents decried the prolonged wait for transport, saying they have had enough with delays.

They claimed the hospital staff also did not offer them an explanation for the delay.

The hospital's nursing manager, Charmen Cloete, acknowledged transport delays, which, he was quick to point out, were an isolated incident, attributed to a broken-down bus.

While apologising to the affected patients, Cloete assured them that the hospital would arrange referral bookings for small groups as a corrective measure to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The nursing manager also refuted claims that affected patients were left in the dark regarding the reasons for the transport delays.
