The Editors’ Forum of Namibia (EFN) has announced the appointment of Dr. Sadrag Panduleni Shihomeka as Media Ombudsman. Dr. Shihomeka succeeds Dr. John Nakuta, whose term officially ended on 30 June 2025. His term will run from July 23, 2025, to July 22, 2028.
Dr. Shihomeka is currently a senior lecturer in Journalism and Media Technology at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where he teaches modules including Corporate Public Relations.
The EFN has also selected panellists for the Media Complaints Committee. Representing the public are Maria Uushona, Professor Johan Coetzee, Naita Hishoono, and Shoki Kandjimi. The four panellists representing the media are Lazarus Amukeshe, Lischen Khachas, Shelleygan Petersen, and Penda Jonas Hashoongo.
The newly elected EFN Executive Committee, which will serve a two-year term from 23 July 2025 to 22 July 2027, comprises Toivo Ndjebela (Editor, Namibian Sun) as Chairperson; Ester Mbathera (News Editor, The Namibian) as Deputy Chairperson; Jeaneth Haipare (Editor: Digital News Content, NBC) as Treasurer; and Gerald Johr (General Manager, Energy 100 FM) as Executive Committee Member. Selma Ikela (News Editor: One Africa) retains her position as Secretary General, while Elizabeth Kalambo M’ule continues as Coordinator.
