The Governor of the ||Kharas Region, Dawid Gertze, has highlighted the importance of nurturing scientific curiosity from an early age, as it fuels knowledge and drives innovation. 

He made the remarks during the ||Kharas Regional Science Fair award ceremony in Keetmanshoop. 

The Oranjemund Primary School walked away with the top prize in the junior primary schools category, and Angra Pequena Secondary School scooped the first prize in the secondary schools category. 

Angra Pequena School learner Grace Alao was awarded a gold prize and a personal laptop for winning the senior secondary category with a research project on how air pollution affects lichen growth and its medical properties.

Some gold medallists offered advice to fellow students interested in participating in the science fair competition. 

The Anglo American Foundation and the Debmarine Namdeb Foundation sponsored the hosting of the annual regional science fair. 

The science fair competition was held under the theme, 'Igniting curiosity, power, and discovery."
