Mothers gathered to unmask postnatal depression during the launch of the book ‘Unmasking Postnatal Depression’ by Morna Ikosa.
After experiencing postnatal depression with the birth of her children, Ikosa narrated her story with inputs from experts.
Postnatal depression is a type of depression that some mothers experience after giving birth. It is said to be a common problem, affecting more than one in every five women.
The book is not only for mothers; it also guides families and the community on how to assist mothers experiencing postnatal depression.
While reflecting on her motherhood journey, the Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema, emphasised the need for support when mothers are going through postnatal depression and the importance of seeking help.
Gospel artist Dee-A also shared his experience of going into depression alongside his wife, a process he now understands better.
