The Cabinet directed five ministries and the National Planning Commission to assess Namibia's capacity in data collection for evidence-based policies in the transition from the informal to the formal economy to increase investments.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Emma Theofelus shared the decisions made during the Cabinet meeting, which included support for the Minister of Justice and Labour Relations to evaluate if Namibia is ready to approve convention number 94, which deals with labour rules for public contracts.

This is to enhance good governance and promote decent work in public contracts subject to legal scrutiny by the Attorney General.

The cabinet also took note of the recommendations from the 3rd Commonwealth Trade Ministers meeting and business summit that was held in Windhoek in June.

"It endorsed the recommendation for the Ministry of International Relations and Trade to organise an investment conference on a biannual basis, and the cabinet also endorsed the submission by the International Relations and Trade, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Namibia, to co-host the Commonwealth Trade Ministers meeting and present the joint Commonwealth statement on the multilateral trading system to the World Trade Organisation on behalf of Commonwealth member states. This is in support of the multilateral trading system, as decided by the Commonwealth trade ministers during that third meeting."

The Cabinet took note of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reforms, attendance, observation and recommendations from the second Africa and Brazil dialogue on food security against hunger and rural development.

It also directed the ministry to implement the outcomes of the Food and Agriculture Organisation conference 44th session held in Rome in July.
