President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has congratulated the Anglican Diocese of Namibia on its 100th anniversary, commending the church on its growth and impact over the last century.
Speaking at the centenary celebrations held at Odibo, the President described the milestone as a testament to the church's dedication to spreading the gospel and touching countless lives.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is also a member of the church, acknowledged the crucial role the Anglican Diocese played during Namibia's liberation struggle, providing much-needed support to those who were fighting for independence.
She urged the church to continue being a community-rooted institution, mainstreaming its presence across the corners of the country.
The President encouraged the church to explore innovative ways to support and grow the Namibian people and beyond.
She also touched on collective effort to build a God-fearing nation.
“I call on our churches to re introduce Sunday school and the parents should ensure that they take their children to those schools. Thus enabling our children to be introduced to religious teaching and believes in their lives. We can not just say schools schools schools, things must start home. A child coming from home where morality is not respected will not get it at school. Even if you teach a bible it will just be one of those subjects and not make an impact.”
The President also emphasised the importance of strengthening pastoral presence in communities, allowing the church to remain relevant and effective in its mission.
“Together, we will ensure that the teachings of compassion, service, and integrity continue to remain deeply rooted within our hearts and communities. I encourage the diocese to explore innovative plans that bridge faith and present-day challenges, offering solutions that uplift and empower our people.
The weeklong commemoration will officially end tomorrow.
