The University of Namibia’s Katima Mulilo Campus has launched its annual cultural festival with vibrant performances by traditional groups, reaffirming this year’s theme, “Connecting Cultures, Building Unity”.

Speaking at the official opening on behalf of Campus Director Dr. Samuel Mafwila, Head of Wildlife Management and Tourism Studies, Dr. Evans Simasiku said the theme aligns with UNAM’s mandate to nurture cultural expression within Namibian society. He emphasised that cultural diversity is not a threat but a strength that should be celebrated.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Regional Governor, Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency Councillor Kennedy Simasiku urged students to become ambassadors of unity amid growing tribal undertones in the country. He said students must embrace their diversity and stand united under one identity, that of being UNAM students.

The four-day festival will feature exhibitions, a pageant, sporting activities, traditional dance showcases, and a gospel concert.
