The Keetmanshoop Town Council has commissioned a project to upgrade gravel roads to interlocked paved roads as part of efforts to improve the town's road infrastructure.

As part of the initiative, the Commercial Road in the Krönlein residential area will be upgraded for N$5.9 million, while the Unitas Weg Road in the Tseiblaagte residential area will also undergo upgrade works at the cost of N$2.5 million.

The Road Fund Administration fully funded the council's contract with Henima Investments and Enigma Road Contractors for the road upgrade project.

The council's management committee chairperson, Easter Isaack, highlighted that road infrastructure development is key to laying the groundwork for socio-economic development.

"Improved roads enhance mobility, reduce travel time, support local businesses, improve access to essential services, such as schools, clinics, and markets, and add dignity to our community by creating safer, cleaner, and more accessible environments."

He implored the residents to support road contractors during the upgrading works and to be patient with the temporary inconveniences that come with road improvements.

"Today's event simplifies progress, partnership and hope for a better and brighter Keetmanshoop. Let us continue working together, be it government institutions, the private sector, or the community, for the betterment of our beloved town."

Isaack commended RFA for the partnership with the council, whose efforts he said were crucial to the project's realisation.
