Swakop Uranium Foundation has launched its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting major achievements in safety, business performance, and community development.

In 2024, the company received a NOSA 5-Star rating with a score of 91.11% and won second place for Best Team Spirit at the Chamber of Mines Inter-Mines Sports Games and received a Namibia Revenue Service Award for being a reliable tax contributor.

Swakop Uranium made a net profit of N$562 million and reduced its unit sales cost by 4%.

The company mined 118 million tonnes of material and achieved its highest ever processing rate of 1,720 tonnes per hour.

In 2024, the company had around 1,676 full-time employees and approximately 2,000 on contract.

Swakop Uranium has a skills and development budget provision for all employees and has carried out training and development initiatives covering bursaries, graduate development programmes, internships, external expert training, and professional memberships.

Luo Wei, CEO of Swakop Uranium Foundation, said, "This marks the sixth consecutive year that Swakop Uranium publishes its independent Sustainability Report – a reflection of our transparency, accountability, and dedication to continuous improvement. The theme for this year, "Mining for a Sustainable Future", captures our conviction that responsible mining can and must be a force for good – one that creates value for the environment, for people, and for the economy alike."

Through its Invest in Education campaign, the company renovated school facilities, built computer labs, and supported feeding programmes.

The Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Gaudentia Krohne, commended Swakop Uranium for its contribution to the mining sector.

"This event reflects poorly on the achievements of a single company. It represents the growing maturity of Namibia's mining sector, a sector that continues to balance productivity with responsibility and short-term performance with long-term vision."
