The Osona Fishing company handed over food parcels to 200 households in Tsumkwe, which brought relief and joy to families ahead of the festive season.
The food parcels are worth N$150,000.

The community received food parcels including maize meal, rice, macaroni, cooking oil, sugar and canned fish.

The donations form part of the Osona Fishing company's nationwide outreach programme aimed at aiding needy households.

Chairperson of Osona Fishing Company, Reinhardt Urib, says, "These are the first people, and they must be respected as the first people, and they must know this is just an encouragement. Food is nothing; it will be eaten over 2 or 3 days, but I want you guys to be motivated that people far away are thinking about you and you have to think of yourself positively."

Tsumkwe Constituency Councillor, Petrus Mutji, expressed gratitude to the company for prioritising communities such as Tsumkwe.

"It comes at a time when many families in our constituency face socio-economic hardship, and this support will bring much-needed relief and comfort to households most in need.  It's really important because, as you can see behind there, at least somebody tonight and tomorrow will have something on the table and something in the stomach. It's really important because in our area people are suffering, and there are no jobs; there is nothing they can literally live and survive on except these donations that are coming."

Beneficiaries Kasje |Ghae and Di//Ao #Oma also expressed their gratitude.

"I'm very happy for and thank the government for this food. We are suffering here, especially me because I don't work and rely on small work I get from people. At least I have food now that I will eat for days, and I'm very grateful."

"I'm grateful, and I thank the people who brought food to us. Now we have something to eat for Christmas."
