The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPBD) has officially launched the Namibia Convention Bureau (NCB).
The Bureau aims to market Namibia as a preferred destination.
The Bureau has partnered with the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) given the ministry's tourism sector potential to attract visitors.
This comes with opportunities such as economic diversification, job creation, attracting investment and knowledge exchange.
"The government has shown its commitment by modernising legislation, streamlining processes and introducing visas for its delegates' entries, and we continue to streamline our process so that it becomes easy for people that matter to our country. But success depends on partnership. We invite investors, venue owners, hotels, developers, service providers and all entrepreneurs to build a world-class Namibian MICE experience. This is not a one-man show; it requires everybody to join in. You have heard that the success depends on various factors, says MEFT minister Indileni Daniel.
Daniel stated the launch of the Bureau is a bold step expressing the ministry's support.
Furthermore, NCB has also officially opened its website, www.ncb.com.na, where the public can access all the relevant information about NIPDB.
Nangual Uaandja is the Chief Executive Officer of the NIPDB.
"We have been entrusted by the government to promote Namibia as a preferred investment destination. Making sure that we brand and profile Namibia involves a lot of activities; some of them are carried out locally, others internationally, but you really need to find as many platforms as necessary, and we believe that NCB is one of those platforms, and that's why we partner with the Ministry of MEFT to make sure that we kick off this industry."
"Tourism is a social, cultural and economic phenomenon which entails the movements of people to countries or places outside their usual environment," said Esther Ndilula, NCB's Manager.
Last year, Namibia hosted the Africa Insurance Event, which brought together 1,500 attendees.
