With only two days until Christmas, foot traffic has surged at the Keetmanshoop Shopping Mall as residents hurry for last-minute festive shopping.
The NBC News crew in Keetmanshoop spoke to shoppers amid the bustling town, capturing their Christmas plans and messages.
Timotheus Frederick, a Keetmanshoop resident, shared: "For Christmas, as usual, we will have our little sermon on the farm with the family. I have my mother and two more elders on the farm, whom we invited to share the festive season with us. We have been to a funeral with the in-laws, and now we are back to the farm to conclude what we normally do for the festive season. For New Year's, we will be in Keetmanshoop."
Magrieta van der Brooks added, "I hope they will have a blessed Christmas. If they drive, they have to be safe, and I hope everyone will be happy during this festive season. We all know what the message is behind everything, so we can celebrate the birth of Christ."
Shoppers emphasised family togetherness and safety as key priorities this season.
Joseph Issack said, "This time of the year, it's a time we appreciate – the blessings and what you go through. So we are here to buy special gifts for our loved ones, those who loved us, embraced us and accompanied us. This is a time for family, so for 2026, families are coming together. We are here to buy, and our ultimate aim is to make people happy."
Gongaleni Shikalepo wrapped up that "We are just going to braai. We go to the sea and braai. I just want to say hello to everyone who is celebrating their Christmas at home or with their family. Please stay safe, drink responsibly and take care."
