As 2025 ended, churches in Keetmanshoop filled to capacity as residents gathered to usher in the New Year with prayer, thanksgiving, and hope.

At Immanuel Lutheran Church, spiritual leader Deacon Abel Vries urged congregants to pause for self-reflection, learn from the past year, and step into 2026 with renewed faith in God.

"The scripture says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His character, personality, and grace remain unchanged, even though we falter."

New members were confirmed during the service.

Congregants described the New Year's Eve, or Crossover, service as a time for reflection, gratitude, and hopeful faith.
