New images from the latest tranche of three million Epstein files on Friday show former UK ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson with the late paedophile financier.
Images include those of Mandelson in his underwear in what was reported in the UK media to be Epstein's Paris flat - alongside a woman in a white dressing gown. Others previously released show the pair together. Inclusion in the Epstein files does not imply wrongdoing and Mandelson has always strongly denied it.
In the House of Commons on Monday, the UK government said it would take steps to try to remove Mandelson's peerage as the opposition demanded to be told what the prime minister knew and when. The leader of the SNP has reported the politician to the police.
The former ambassador is facing calls to lose his peerage after resigning from the Labour Party on Sunday. Including in the latest tranche are messages saying he was 'trying hard' to change government policy on bankers' bonuses after a personal request from Epstein - and that Mandelson's husband had been sent $50,000 in 2004, and £10,000 in 2009. The British politician is also seen discussing staying with Epstein after the financier's child prostitution conviction in 2008.
Mandelson stated: "I have been further linked this weekend to the understandable furore surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and I feel regretful and sorry about this. Allegations which I believe to be false that he made financial payments to me 20 years ago, and of which I have no record or recollection, need investigating by me"
Mandelson was the business secretary from 2008 to 2010 - and files released by the US Department of Justice appears to show that he had sent Epstein internal goverment information, including advance notice of a 500bn euro bailout from the EU to prop up the Euro.
He has not commented on those latest revelations but has always strongly denied any wrongdoing.
