African leaders are seeking the guidance of God as they make decisions on issues intended to advance the development of the continent.

The leaders, including Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, attended the annual AU Prayer Breakfast meeting shortly before the opening ceremony of the 39th Ordinary Summit.

Former President of Nigeria and convener of the AU Prayer Breakfast, Olusegun Obasanjo, said, “Brothers and sisters, I welcome you all to this meeting as we seek the face of God for our leaders.”

This year’s breakfast meeting placed emphasis on the summit’s theme, “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” which Obasanjo described as crucial, adding, “May our prayers continue to be answered.”
