The National Democratic Party's leadership celebrated the party's 22-year anniversary.

NDP president Martin Lukato said that, although the party was formed in 2003, it was only officially registered with the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) in 2004.

Despite the party's struggles over time to gain prominence and recognition amid limited resources, its commitment to political and social causes has paid off.

Lukato said a good example is that the NDP managed to secure one local authority seat in Katima Mulilo Town Council in 2020. In 2024, it obtained one seat in the National Assembly, and during the 2025 local authority elections, it scored two seats—one for Bukalo Village Council and one in Katima Mulilo Town Council.
