The Minister of Information and Communication Technology has highlighted communication gaps within government offices, ministries and agencies and the need to close these gaps.
Emma Theofelus spoke to NBC News shortly after the Prime Minister's engagement with the ICT sector.
The ICT minister agrees that, without effective communication, gaps will remain and the public will turn to assumptions.
"And developments in each ministry would require communication from the perspective of what's happening in that ministry or office or agency. And that is why it was imperative for the Prime Minister to additionally address the PROs for us to align our communication efforts collectively as a government around the programmes and activities of government. It's no secret that a lot is being done in government on a day-to-day basis, every week, every month, from January to December. Projects are being implemented, work is being done, and communities are getting service delivery on a daily basis, but it's not being properly communicated. Or there is this notion of belief that we shouldn't over-communicate what we're doing, but we should. Because if we do not communicate what we're doing, the gaps will exist. And when gaps exist, people will assume that government is not working, but this is a machine that is on 24/7. Government doesn't close."
