A case of a woman accused of raping another is among the rape incidents reported during the Easter weekend.

The police crime report documented six cases of rape and sexual assault, highlighting the persistent threat of sexual violence.

One of the cases involves a 42-year-old woman who allegedly raped a 58-year-old woman. The suspect was arrested.

Another case is of a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped while sleeping with her 19-year-old sister in an unlocked room. The suspect fled but can be identified. 

In Rosh Pinah, a 50-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 29-year-old niece. 

He was expected to appear in the Lüderitz Magistrate's Court.

In Ndama, Rundu, a 19-year-old student was allegedly raped by three unknown men while walking home with friends and robbed. 

In the South, Kalkrand, a 23-year-old man, allegedly raped his 34-year-old male roommate at knifepoint. He was arrested. 

In the coastal DRC informal settlement at Swakopmund, a suspect broke into a shack, threatened the victim with a panga, raped her, and stole household items valued at N$6,000. The suspect remains at large. 

Police have urged communities to stay vigilant and report all cases of sexual violence.

Other crimes reported over the weekend included three suicides, five homicides, three drug-related cases, stock theft, five housebreakings, and the drowning of a four-year-old boy.

A human skeleton was also discovered at Onkaankaa Village, in the Omusati Region.
