President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has described the late |Hai|Om chief Dawid ||Khamuxab as a bridge that played an integral part in transforming the indigenous San tribe to be part of Namibia's social and economic participation and advancement.

Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development Evelyn Nawases-Taeyele delivered the president’s message.

Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah said Chief ||Khamuxab was the bridge between generations as he encouraged his tribesmen to embrace education and development and play an active part in Namibia's story.

“We have lost a leader whose life was dedicated to preserving the identity, traditions, and dignity of his people while contributing to the broader project of nation-building in our country. His passing has left a deep void not only within his family but also in the heart of many people in this community and beyond.”

Reading the eulogy, Otjozondjupa Governor John ||Khamuseb said the late traditional leader will be remembered for successfully lobbying for land to resettle the |Hai|om San in Seringkop.

“He decided, together with a group of his people, to take their bows and arrows, camp at the entrance to Etosha National Park, and demand land because they could not remain landless while being citizens of this country. They then began demanding land. Chief ||Khamuxab  became a biblical Moses to his people.”

Outjo Constituency Councillor Kleophas Gaingob commended the late Chief for his leadership.

"A visionary leader, champion of peace and stability, unifier, and pillar of hope who was always ready to rise on behalf of his people. He has been a voice of many voiceless Hai|om members of this community.”

Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism Bernadette Jagger also paid tribute to the Chief.

“Namibia is today poorer because it has lost a son who devoted his life to serving others. Yet we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire unity, resilience, and pride among his people.”

Chairperson of the Traditional Leaders Council Immanuel Gaseb gave the vote of thanks.

“I would like to commend Goab ||Khamuxab, the |Hai|Om traditional authority, and the community at large for conducting the succession process with dignity, professionalism, and respect by successfully appointing Goab Alfred ||Khamuxab.”
