The governor of Ohangwena Region, Kadiva Hamutumwa, has launched the region's Investment Map and Action Plan during a business engagement breakfast in Eenhana.
The governor described the initiative as a practical investment framework aimed at unlocking the region's economic potential.
Governor Hamutumwa said the Investment Map and Action Plan are more than just a strategic planning document.
She said it identifies commercially viable investment opportunities across the region's priority economic sectors and provides a clear roadmap for attracting investors, promoting enterprise development and accelerating inclusive economic growth.
"My objective is to create thriving business enterprises that I established in partnership and fully own, you who are sitting here. It's a vision that might sound bold, but we need to be bold in our action and need to be very deliberate in what needs to be done. This regional investment map speaks to how we focus on enterprise development and business development in the Ohangwena region and what the competitive advantages that the region has to offer are."
The governor also called for the revival of business hubs such as Oshikango, where many commercial buildings currently stand vacant.
She said revitalising these facilities would help attract new investment and stimulate economic activity across the region.
"We have a town such as Oshikango that was shining a decade ago, and today, Oshikango has empty buildings. We have a lot of trades going on, but at a small level. That's what we need to turn around. We have graduates who are graduating, but they do not have enterprises. Looking at that economic perspective, we may say we need to turn that around."
Hamutumwa further stressed that investment should deliver tangible benefits for local communities by creating opportunities and empowering youth and women entrepreneurs.
