Residents of Outwilo village in Ohangwena have in the early morning hours of Monday found 18 goats killed and drained of blood by unknown predators.

The goats belong to 72-year-old Laimi Shixungileni.

She said two goats were bitten behind the head and disembowelled.

Only six goats survived the attack.

"The goats have been killed, and I have no answers. This is terrifying; I do not know what kind of predator this was."

She said her goats were her source of income, besides her social grant.

Last week, Victoria Nghiidipaa also lost eight goats in a similar manner.

"I have suffered a huge loss. Of my eight goats, I am only left with five. The other two were not found until today."

Ohangwena Police Commander, Ottilie Kashuupulwa urged residents to exercise caution and avoid walking alone at night.

Commissioner Kashuupulwa also advised community members not to consume the meat of the dead animals, as authorities have not yet established what kind of predator attacked the goats or whether the carcasses are fit for consumption.
