DR Congo government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya has accused former President Joseph Kabila of launching an 'all-out attack' against the Republic through his new political-military alliance, warning that the move could cost civilian lives.

"The former president has decided to officially launch an all-out attack against the Republic, against the Congolese people and against their right to choose their leaders, and their right to live in peace. Choosing to take up arms means Congolese people will be killed. Seeking to conquer territory means causing further tragedies. By seeking to assume his role as the eldest son of Rwandan President Paul Kagame, the former president also bears responsibility for M23, for all the deaths we have mourned in Goma, for the deaths we continue to mourn, for the humanitarian disasters we continue to face.
