The Keetmanshoop Super Spar employees are accusing the retail shop's management of deducting money unlawfully from their salaries.

The employees claim they are facing salary deductions after borrowing money from a cash-loan owner, Morris Kapepiso, who was arrested in connection with the theft of N$510,000 from the supermarket in July.

It was reported that the theft negatively impacted the supermarket's finances, leading to employees receiving their July salaries in two instalments.

The manager, Petrus Strauss, allegedly forced the employees to sign letters informing them that deductions would be made from those who made financial dealings with Kapepiso, arguing that the loans given were related to the money that was stolen from the supermarket.

The employees questioned why their salaries were being deducted when Kapepisoo had already been arrested.

They further stressed that their cash-loan agreements were separate from the alleged theft and considered the deductions unfair.

NBC News reached out to Strauss for a comment, but he denied the allegations and said the media has nothing to do with the matters concerning him or his employees.

Kapepiso made a court appearance on Tuesday for a hearing and will appear in court on Monday next week for a bail application.
