The B1 City shopping complex, dubbed "The People's Mall," is in a deplorable state of decay.

The construction of this shopping complex has been riddled with drama from the get-go, starting with the questionable sale of the land on which it was built, to investors pulling out halfway through the construction phase.

The project was stalled with no eagerness to finalise it.

But several years into it being operational, it is an eyesore for shoppers and passers-by. 

The B1 City shopping complex is managed by Broll Property Group, which, on its website, claims to be one of Africa's leading commercial property services, with offices in major cities and towns across Africa. 

Among the myriad of services it offers, Broll also claims to be an expert in the management of facilities. shopping centre management and retail leasing.

But compared to other properties managed by this property giant, the busy B1 City appears to have been neglected.

There are several empty shops. Hollard Namibia and another big insurance company are the latest who chose not to renew their lease agreements, and the space they occupied now stands vacant.

nbc News reached out to the Head of Communications at O&L, Roux-Che Locke last Tuesday in the hope of getting a comment regarding the dilapidated state of the B1 City Shopping Center.

Locke, via a WhatsApp message, promised to revert before the end of last week but failed to do so.
