Swapo Party Vice Presidential candidate Pohamba Shifeta has dismissed reports that he intends to withdraw from the race, as false.

Shifeta says he has overwhelming support among delegates, which he says is a clear testimony of a call upon him to serve the country.

The Environment, Forestry and Tourism Minister is currently on a campaign trail in the two Kavango regions, as well as the Zambezi region.

Shifeta says withdrawing from the race to become the next vice president of the party will be betraying the 72% of his comrades who endorsed his candidacy.

He called the allegations of his withdrawal as a candidate fake, malicious and slanderous, aimed at creating confusion among the delegates who placed their trust in him.

Shifeta told the rank and file of the party to count on him to see through the campaign and prevail.

The vice presidential hopeful refuted the claims in a statement to the media.
