To give due care and support to people living with disabilities, the Ministry of Health and Social Services has launched a Hope Home-Based Health Care Centre as well as a mobile clinic at Tsumeb.

In most cases, people with disabilities require assistance that not everyone can offer.

Eglien Uises started the Hope Home-Based Health Care Centre in 2016 to assist people who care for those living with disabilities.

The Hope Home-Based Health Care programme employs ten caregivers, paid by the Oshikoto Tulimevava Trust.

Caregivers go door-to-door, carrying with them personal hygiene items, food, and toiletries.

In addition, a mobile clinic is now also available to provide primary health care, diagnosis, and on-the-spot treatment.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Utjiua Muinjangue, says palliative care is of utmost importance.

In a speech read on her behalf, the Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Natalia Goagoses, emphasised the importance of programmes such as these.

The project is currently run from the founder's home, and plans are underway to construct a more suitable centre.

The Tsumeb Municipality has made land towards this goal.
