More than a thousand students graduated in the University of Namibia's second Spring Graduation Ceremony.
Students from 12 campuses across the country convened at the main campus in Windhoek to be conferred with the qualifications.
Certificates, diplomas, degrees, masters, and PHD's were awarded to students in various fields.
For the first time, the university conferred four specialization qualifications in the field of anaesthesia.
"The university has prepared you for the competitive global world of work. Continue to learn throughout your life, be innovative, and be a responsible global citizen. Make the University of Namibia and Namibia proud through your impact on society. Use your knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to respond to global challenges," said Kenneth Matengu, Vice Chancellor of UNAM.
In his keynote address, the Vice President and UNAM Chancellor said efforts need to be directed at the boy-child to bring them on par with their female counterparts.
Nangolo Mbumba made the remarks in response to the high number of female graduates.
"Since independence, our education system has made concerted efforts to empower the girl-child to enable them to receive education, realise their potential and contribute to national development. However, the boy child is lagging behind in higher education. Are your sons and nephews ready to face the challenge? If not, at least we have opened the academic gates for them to come in."
The university is also celebrating its 30th anniversary with the introduction of four new faculties and 16 schools.
