Opuwo Rural Constituency Councillor Western Muharukua requested intervention from Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila regarding the ongoing dispute between the Kunene Regional Council and the Minister of Urban and Rural Development.

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, who visited the region, engaged with the regional leadership to hear their concerns, challenges, and access to public service.

There, Opuwo Rural Constituency Councillor Western Muharukua brought to the attention of the prime minister the long-standing dispute between the Kunene Regional Council and the Minister of Urban and Rural Development.

He said the dispute is costing the council money that could be used to address the need for service delivery to the community.

In response, the premier said a situation such as the one at the Kunene Regional Council could be resolved amicably.

She is, however, happy with the progress made in service delivery in the region.

Muharukua has also expressed disappointment with the procurement process, noting that there are funds that are not yet utilized as a result of the cumbersome procedure.

His sentiments were shared by Hendrick Gaobaeb, the Chairperson of the Kunene Region Council Management Committee.
